Matched/Hunger Games

I read Hunger Games last year just in time to read the whole series when Mockingjay came out. It was so bomb. I love love love this series. While at work I heard that there was another book out that had the DYSOTOPIAN vibe to it and of course jumped into this book. It was Matched by Ally Condie. I purchased it on my kindle and was super excited... I finished it in a couple of hours. I totally digged it also BUT I noticed that there were alot of comparisons to Hunger Games. Ready to see?? Let us begin....

Characters

Main Character- Katniss (HG)/Cassia (M)
Boy Interest #1 & also best friend-Gale (HG)/Xander (M)
Boy Interest #2 - Peeta (HG)/ KY(M) - I love both characters!!! :)
Sibling- Prim (HG)/ Bram (M)
Object of rebellion- Mockingjay Pin,Token (HG)/Compact (M)
Reigning Power over people- Capital (HG)/ Officials (M)
Fire- burning down District 12 (HG)/ Burning books/libraries (M)
Both stories talk about a very out of control government, which at one time was the United States, that don't allow originality, rebellion, and punish when someone is out of line.

I loved these books, and there are probably so many more similarities between the two stories. I can't wait for the next book in the MATCHED series because I want to see where this author will take the story! November 2011 can't come soon enough!

The name of the game is...

I have been meaning to get on here and blog for days, I just get super duper distracted and forget that it is on my to do list. But today is a day of rest and I get a chance to breath and to write a little excerpt of my life onto this neglected blog! Just to recap on the goings on of Sydney's awesomespice life! :)

Gypsy underwent surgery to become neutral. (Nu pups for us!!!) But that isn't what I wanted to mention. It was the fact that GYP had to wear the cone of shame!

I lightened my hair to look like Lauren Conrad (but really!) It is called "ombre"!

We went to Show Low for Memorial Day weekend! To watch my dad play softball!

4.) Lake Powell- as long as there aren't any accidents then it is a happy place!

5.) HOME- Obviously Home is where the HEART is and wherever the heart is is where I am happiest! :)

Ellie - my home girl.

I am OBSESSED with Ellie Goulding. She is the most amazing thing ever. I seriously have listened to her LIGHTS album all week on repeat. When I drive in the car, when I am chilling in my room, when I am working, when I am falling asleep. (just need to add her to my work out.... if I worked out. haha) but for reals... I LOVE HER. I wish I was her. THE END.

The Final Countdown...

These are pictures of my hilarious little brother who is serving a mission in Boise Idaho. Obviously I miss him. BUT we get to talk to him in ONE week! One week people. I can hardly wait... He is the best little brother anyone could ever ask for. He is a great example to me with his willingness to serve. His emails every week are not only the funniest thing I read, but also the most uplifting. I hope that someday when I grow up I can be as dedicated as he is! :) Anyways, Just wanted to give a shout out to the best brosef ever!

Mousellaneous!

Disneyland... I know I know... I blog about Disney alot. BUT this was a fantastic trip to DISNEY! We had so much fun! Ivy got to compete in Nationals for POM and WE (the fam) got to go to DISNEYLAND because her competition was in ANAHEIM! Get ready for the best picture overload of your life!

The last night we were at Disneyland I had the three youngest SIBs. We decided to ride Matterhorn. It wasnt a bad wait so we got onto the ride in decent time. In riding MATTERHORN a couple times I notcied that this ride was a lot faster then the norm. About half way through the ride (or I guess you can say half way down the mountain) the ride stopped. Weird right??? We sat on the ride for about 10-15 minutes and THEN we were walked off the ride (through the center of the mountain! not as cool as you think... it is actually really dirty!) And the lady that walked us off they gave us a "front of the line" pass that allowed us to cut everyone. So OF COURSE we immediately run to space mountain and only wait 15 minutes instead of 70! yay baby!
